Privacy Policy

Last updated 22 October 2026

This policy explains what Ira Blogging Private Limited collects when you use IraShorts, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

The short version

You can watch everything on IraShorts without creating an account. If you choose to sign in, the only thing we ask for is your mobile number. We do not ask for your email, your address or your date of birth, and we never sell or rent anything we hold.

What we collect

Viewing data

When a video actually starts playing we record the episode, how many seconds were watched, and whether playback passed the 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% marks. Each browser is given a random identifier stored on your own device so that repeat playback of the same episode is not double-counted. That identifier is not linked to your name, email, phone number or any account.

Technical data

Our servers keep ordinary web logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — which are used for security, fraud prevention and diagnosing faults.

Your account, if you create one

Signing in is by mobile number and a one-time code. We store your mobile number, a name if you choose to add one, and the dates you created the account and last signed in. The number is used to sign you in and, once paid plans exist, to attach a subscription to you. It is never displayed to other viewers and we do not send marketing messages to it.

The one-time code itself is sent by our SMS provider, 2Factor.in, who receive your mobile number solely to deliver that message. Records of code requests are kept briefly for security and rate-limiting and then cease to be useful.

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Deletion removes your number and account record from our systems immediately.

What you send us

If you contact support or file a grievance, we keep what you send, including your name and contact details, so we can respond and so we can maintain the complaint register the law requires.

What we do not collect

We do not collect payment card details — when paid plans launch, those are handled entirely by the payment gateway and never reach our servers. We do not ask for your email address. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not run third-party ad trackers on IraShorts, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone. We do use Google Analytics to count visits, which is explained in full below.

Why we use it

  • To play video and remember where you are in a story
  • To understand which stories hold attention, in aggregate, so we commission better ones
  • To keep the service secure and working
  • To answer you when you write to us, and to meet our record-keeping obligations

Cookies and local storage

We use a small amount of browser storage for the anonymous playback identifier, a signed cookie to keep you signed in if you have an account, and a session cookie for administrators signing into the management panel. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell a returning visit from a new one, as described below. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are used.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they open, and which links brought them here, so we know whether our work is reaching anyone. It records the page you opened, roughly where in the world you are, and the kind of device and browser you used. It never receives your name, your mobile number or anything you typed on this site.

Google's advertising features are switched off on our property. We do not use Analytics to build advertising audiences, we do not run remarketing, and nothing collected here personalises ads anywhere. When a plan is bought we send Analytics the amount paid and the plan chosen, so we can tell which channels bring subscribers, and that record carries no information identifying the buyer.

You can opt out entirely with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser. Nothing on IraShorts stops working if you do.

Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help us run the platform — hosting, content delivery, our SMS provider for sign-in codes, Google Analytics for visit statistics, and the payment gateway — and only to the extent they need it. We may disclose information where required by law or by a court or government order.

How long we keep it

Account records are kept for as long as the account exists, and removed when you delete it. Aggregate viewing statistics are retained for as long as the platform operates. Grievance records are retained for three years, as required under the Information Technology Rules, 2021. Web logs are retained for a limited operational period and then deleted.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you may ask us to confirm what personal data of yours we hold, correct it, complete it, update it or erase it, and you may withdraw consent you previously gave. If you have an account, the quickest route is your account page, where you can change your name or delete the account outright. Otherwise write to suryawanshisanjana@gmail.com and we will respond. If you are not satisfied, the Grievance Officer is the next step.

Children

IraShorts publishes content suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. We do not use personal data for tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and access to the management panel is restricted and password-protected. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the data we hold — which is deliberately very little.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
